The Wimba method (Ind. Cara Wimba) in Bahasa Rupa is Indonesian traditional visual language that approaches art with the RWD (Ruang-Waktu-Datar) or Flat-Space-Time method, which illustrates a time-lapse within the flat, two dimensional surface, similar to Einstein’s Theory of Relativity that shows the relationship between space and time. Unfortunately, creating arts (and or design) using research with this method sometime disregarded due to the assumption that RWD is unable to visualize and communicating the real object, unlike the NPM or Naturalist-Perspective-Moment Opname. The study aims to assess and identify the Wimba method as a visual language of Indonesia’s traditional art in media as a ‘silent communicator’, which is in this case study are print ads, focusing on studying motion feature as one of Wimba method that constructing the movement imagery. Uses Mix-Method approach with quantitative methods-description, the study is recommended to be an additional reference for visual art and design and communication science, especially for those interested in the implementation of Bahasa Rupa in increasing the efficiency of word usage by optimizing nonverbal messages on media as communication strategy. The primary data were collected using a digital Likert’s response scale, secondary data collected by literature reviews. The result shows into two phase. Phase 1, tested over 21 print ads from various segments that applies movement characteristics as visual vocabulary using 70 respondents. The Phase 2 which was developed from the results of the Phase 1 questionnaires, contains of 7 print advertisements with the application of 7 Motion Features as visual stimuli. According to 100 respondents, 7 print ads that attracted the most attention were using motion features Distortion (24 percent) and Plural Imagery (24 percent). These findings may provide a new premise that through the Indonesia’ art visual vocabulary (Bahasa Rupa), affection and cognitive functions are interconnected and could influencing in persona’s perception and/or appreciations, and could offering a new aesthetic sensibility in creating art (and/or design).
